Ingredients
For the Cookies:
½ cup unsalted butter, softened
¾ cup granulated sugar
1 large egg
½ tsp vanilla extract
½ tsp peppermint extract
Green food coloring (a few drops)
1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
½ tsp baking powder
¼ tsp salt
¼ tsp baking soda
For Topping:
24 chocolate kiss candies (unwrapped)
Extra granulated sugar for rolling
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, cream butter and sugar until fluffy.
- Beat in egg, vanilla, peppermint extract, and green food coloring until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and baking soda. Gradually add to wet ingredients, mixing until a dough forms.
- Roll dough into 1-inch balls and coat in granulated sugar.
- Place on a baking sheet 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 8-10 minutes until set but not browned.
- Remove cookies from the oven and immediately press a chocolate kiss into the center of each cookie.
- Let cool completely to allow the chocolate to set.
- Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
