1 cup unsalted butter, melted and cooled
1 cup brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups M&M candies (reserve 1/4 cup for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line a 9×13-inch baking dish with parchment paper, leaving an overhang for easy removal.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the melted butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth.
- Add the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing until fully combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
- Fold in 1 1/4 cups of M&M candies.
- Spread the dough evenly into the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle the reserved M&M candies on top, pressing them lightly into the dough.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the edges are golden and the center is set. Be careful not to overbake for soft and chewy bars.
- Allow the cookie bars to cool completely in the pan before lifting them out using the parchment paper overhang. Slice into squares and serve.
