  • Author: Bites & Bliss

Description

Old Fashioned Egg Custard Pie is a timeless dessert that brings back the warmth of homemade, vintage baking. The pie features a smooth and creamy custard filling, made with eggs, milk, sugar, and a hint of vanilla.

Ingredients

Scale

1 unbaked 9-inch pie crust
4 large eggs
2 cups whole milk
1 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla extract, nutmeg, salt, and melted butter until smooth and well combined.
  • Pour the mixture into the unbaked pie crust, ensuring it’s evenly spread.
  • Place the pie on a baking sheet and carefully transfer it to the oven.
  • Bake at 400°F (200°C) for 10 minutes, then reduce the temperature to 350°F (175°C) and bake for an additional 35–40 minutes, or until the custard is set and a knife inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Remove from the oven and let the pie cool completely before serving. Garnish with a light sprinkle of nutmeg if desired.
