Description
Chinese Pepper Steak with Onions is a quick and flavorful stir-fry dish that combines tender slices of beef with crisp bell peppers and onions, all coated in a rich, savory sauce.
Ingredients
1 lb flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain
2 bell peppers (green and red), sliced
1 large onion, sliced
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
1/4 cup soy sauce
2 tablespoons oyster sauce
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1/4 cup water or beef broth
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 teaspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon sesame oil (optional)
Cooked white rice (for serving)
Sliced green onions for garnish (optional)
Instructions
In a small bowl, mix together the soy sauce, oyster sauce, water (or broth), sugar, and cornstarch. Set aside.
Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the sliced steak and cook for 2–3 minutes until browned. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
In the same skillet, add the garlic, ginger, sliced onions, and bell peppers. Stir-fry for 3–4 minutes, until the vegetables are slightly tender but still crisp.
Return the steak to the skillet and pour in the sauce mixture. Stir well to combine, allowing the sauce to thicken and coat the meat and vegetables.
Add black pepper and sesame oil (if using) for extra flavor. Cook for another 2 minutes until everything is well incorporated.
Serve hot over white rice and garnish with sliced green onions if desired.
